MODES: Moving Objects Detection and Extraction System

This paper introduces an automatic moving object detection and extraction system (MODES), which uses image processing to detect and extract moving objects within a monitored zone. Monitoring restricted areas such as international borders or buffer zones is of utmost importance; in particular with the worldwide increase of border conflicts, illegal immigration, and terrorism over the past decade. The proposed system is applied to detect movement by humans, animals or vehicles across an assumed secured area. Experimental results indicate that (MODES) provides a simple, efficient and fast solution to the problem of detecting and extracting moving objects within one system.
